The end of the Christmas Story (Luke).

Luke 2.17. “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told”.
The ending of Luke’s Christmas Narrative teaches us many things.

Let’s look:-
1) the Sheppards returned tell everyone what they have seen…
Actually that is all we are called to be is Christs witnesses (Acts 1:8), to give testimony to what he has done and is doing in our life. Our testimony is powerful, after all the book of Revelation talks of “overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony”, amazing our testimony can connect us and others with Christs once and for all atoning Sacrifice made 2000 years ago and about 2000 miles away. This new year pray for opportunities (and more opportunities) to be a faithful witnesses, wisely and in step with the spirit, talking to real people what the real God has really done in our real lives.
2) Mary pondered these things in her heart… Too often we forget what God has done, often we become so focused on the future we forget the Lords faithfulness from the past.
As we embark on a new year let’s remember what our Lord has done, and his faithfulness… This pondering in her heart sounds pretty prayerful too me, at the heart of this new year has got to be our own personal connection with God, our prayer life and relationship to him.
3) …and Gloryifying God…
actually this should be all of our greatest aim to bring Glory to God. I think scripture is clear we all are Christs ambassadors and everything we do, think and say can bring Glory to Christ -it’s our whole life lived -Romans 12- that is our real Ŵorship to God singing and making music to him is the overflow of praise. So if everything we say, do or think can bring glory to God the danger is the opposite is also true.
So let’s tell everyone of what we have seen and heard concerning the child, concerning the person of Jesus,, let’s be witness for Christ sharing out story with those we come into contact with in 2015.
So let’s ponder anew what the almighty can do, as we enter 2016 prayerfully
Let’s be people who shine out for Christ in a good, right and beautiful way this new year.
And let us in 2016 be living primarily to bring glory to Christ in all we say, do and who we are.
